Accessibility
Given the highly visual nature of these web applications, there are accessibility issues involved. Some of these are specific to the social network platforms on which they are deployable, some are a consequence of Flash and browser technologies, and some a consequence of the discoverable nature of the interface.
We're keen to receive accessibility reports at contact@phantasmagoria.org.uk
The applications have been tested with the following assistive technologies, which have the following known issues:
Keyboard Navigation
The applications can be used with keyboard navigation. In Internet Explorer v 6 and Firefox v3, the mouse must be used to focus the applications. This is not the case in Internet Explorer v7.
Users may find reverse tabbing (ctrl + tab) to be useful to navigate the administration interface.
Voice recognition
We don't believe it's possible to use the applications easily using voice recognition tools. This is a common issue with Flash, and the only work around we're aware of is to use the Mouse Grid command.
Screen magnification
The applications can be used with screen magnification. However, the technology is problematic because of the absolute size of the application interface. In particular, interface text may be difficult to read at high magnification.
Screen reading
Screen reader users will not be able to use the applications in Bebo or MySpace.
